Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, Prime Minister of Somalia, on the margins of the 67th General Assembly

The Secretary-General met yesterday with H.E. Mr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, Prime Minister of Somalia.
 

The Secretary-General congratulated the Prime Minister on the important political progress which has taken place with the completion of Somalia’s transitional period.
 

The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister discussed political and security developments in the country and the need for support to stabilization and institution-building in the coming months.
 

They also discussed the continued support of the United Nations to Somalia, including through the Peacebuilding Fund and in the area of human rights, and exchanged views on issues related to piracy.
