The Secretary-General met with H.E. Ms. Catherine Ashton, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union.

They shared views on the importance of making progress in negotiations in the Iran nuclear issue.

They discussed the grave internal and regional implications of the worsening situation in Syria, as well as Mali and the Sahel. As Quartet Members, they conferred on the state of affairs in the Middle Ease Peace Process and stressed the need for some rapid action in this regard.
