The Secretary-General met today, 26 September 2011, with His Excellency Dr. Nabil ElAraby, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, on the margins of the 66th General Assembly.

The Secretary-General BAN Ki-moon and Secretary-General ElAraby discussed issues of mutual interest, including Libya, the Middle East Peace Process and Syria.

Secretary-General BAN Ki-moon reiterated the importance of maintaining close cooperation with the League of Arab States and looked forward to the two organizations deepening such cooperation in the years to come.
