The Secretary-General met today, 26 September 2011, with His Excellency Mr. Hailemariam Desalegn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, on the margins of the 66th General Assembly.

A number of issues were discussed, including the Government of Ethiopia's support on Climate Change and its commendable progress on the MDGs. Issues of regional peace and security were discussed at length, including the situation in Somalia and Sudan, the Ethiopia/Eritrea border dispute, as well as the drought crisis in the Horn of Africa region.
