Readout of Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Danny Philip, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands

The Secretary-General had a warm and cordial meeting with Prime Minster Philip of Solomon Islands. The Secretary-General recalled his very recent trip to the islands, sharing that it had exposed him to the real challenges the islands face. He assured the Prime Minister of the United Nations' support for Solomon Islands' efforts in addressing challenges such as natural disaster response, climate change adaptation, and meeting the MDGs. The Secretary-General shared with the Prime Minister his priorities for the second term, including further strengthening UN-Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) cooperation following the recent PIF summit. They also exchanged views on Fiji.
