The Secretary-General met today, 19 September 2011, with H.E. Mr. Demetris Christofias, President of the Republic of Cyprus.

They exchanged views on the status of the negotiation process to find a comprehensive solution to the long-standing Cyprus problem. The Secretary-General encouraged President Christofias to continue the efforts to increase convergences on all chapters under negotiation and reiterated his expectation that the sides will move the process forward during the current intensified phase of discussions, prior to his next meeting with both leaders at the end of October.
