Secretary-General's comments upon arrival at Beirut Airport

Beirut, Lebanon, 28 August 2006

I just wanted to say that this is a very critical time for Lebanon and I think it is important that I come here myself to discuss with the Lebanese authorities the aftermath of the war and the measures being taken to implement UN Resolutions, and also to underscore international solidarity, and we are going to work with the government. And I look forward to my meetings with the Prime Minister and the other ministers, and look forward to discussing with them the work ahead of us.
