On 20 November, the Secretary-General met with H.E. Ms. Catherine Ashton, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union. They discussed a range of issues, including the developments in Afghanistan and Myanmar, as well as the upcoming referendum in Sudan and the anti-piracy efforts in Somalia.
On Myanmar, they discussed the importance of remaining engaged and continuing to advocate for a more inclusive government, noting that releasing remaining political prisoners would send a positive signal.
