The Permanent Representative of Croatia, Ranko Vilović, assumed the Chairmanship of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) in July 2009.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Mr. Vilović served as Head of the UN Department (2004-2008) and as Head of the Department for Northern and Western Europe (2002-2004) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He also served as Minister Counsellor in the Permanent Mission to the OSCE, UN and International Organizations in Vienna (1998-2002), Head of the Department for Peace and Security (1995-1998), Head of the Croatian Consulate in Zurich (1993-1995), Counsellor of the Croatian Embassy in Bern, Switzerland (1992-1993) and Head of the Consular Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (until 1992).
Born and educated in Zagreb, but also in Halifax, Canada and the Hague, the Netherlands, he started his career in 1980 as a lawyer.
Mr. Vilović is married with two children.
