Country Reports

In its resolution 1373 (2001), the Security Council calls upon all States to report to the Counter-Terrorism Committee on the steps that they have taken to implement the resolution. These reports form the basis of the Committee’s work with Member States.

Each State’s report is considered first by one of three subcommittees, and then by the entire Committee in plenary session. The State concerned may request a meeting with the relevant subcommittee in order to clarify matters raised in connection with its report.

The Committee’s Executive Directorate (CTED) advises the Committee on technical aspects of States’ reports, including criminal, financial, customs, immigration and extradition law and practice; police and law enforcement issues; and illegal arms trafficking.

After analysing the State’s implementation of resolution 1373 (2001) on the basis of its reports and other available information, the Committee sends a letter requesting further information on issues raised in connection with the reports and on other matters considered relevant to implementation of the resolution. States are requested to respond in a further report within three months in a further report.
