UN Security Council Sanctions Committees

Focal Point for De-listing established pursuant to Security Council
resolution 1730 (2006)

Focal Point for De-listing

As part of its commitment to ensure that fair and clear procedures exist for placing individuals and entities on sanctions lists and for removing them, as well as for granting humanitarian exemptions, the Security Council, on 19 December 2006, adopted resolution 1730 (2006) by which the Council requested the Secretary-General to establish within the Secretariat (Security Council Subsidiary Organs Branch), a focal point to receive de-listing requests and perform the tasks described in the annex to that resolution.

Petitioners seeking to submit a request for de-listing can now do so either through the focal point process outlined in resolution 1730 (2006) and its annex or through their State of residence or citizenship. By letter of 30 March 2007 the Secretary-General informed the President of the Security Council that the focal point for de-listing had been established and provided the contact details. The Focal Point can be contacted at this address:

Pursuant to footnote 1 of the annex to resolution 1730 (2006) a State can decide, that as a rule, its citizens or residents should address their de-listing requests directly to the focal point. The State will do so by a declaration addressed to the Chairman of the Committee that will be published on the Committee's website.

The following States have submitted declarations in accordance with resolution 1730 (2006) and citizens or residents of these countries should therefore submit de-listing requests directly to the focal point for de-listing:

France
