Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1988 (2011)

LISTING

The 1988 Sanctions List plays a central role in the United Nations Security Council sanctions regime against those individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with the Taliban in constituting a threat to the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan as designated by the 1988 Sanctions Committee.

In paragraph 12 of its resolution 2082 (2012), the Security Council encourages all Member States, in particular the Government of Afghanistan, to submit to the Committee for inclusion on the List, the names of individuals, groups, undertakings and entities participating, by any means, in the financing or support of acts or activities described in paragraph 2 of the same resolution.

The procedures whereby States may submit names and information for inclusion on the 1988 Sanctions List are set out in sections 7 and 9 of the Committee’s Guidelines PDF adopted on 30 November 2011 and amended on 15 April 2013.

The Committee has approved a standard form for listing, which it calls upon Members States to use when proposing names to the Committee for inclusion on the 1988 Sanctions List. This Standard Form is available through the links below.

Please note that there are two separate Standard Forms, one for requesting the listing of individuals, and one for requesting the listing of entities.
