TI.A.155.11. ABDUL AZIZ ABBASIN
Abdul Aziz Abbasin was listed on 4 October 2011 pursuant to paragraph 3 of resolution 1988 (2011) for “participating in the financing, planning, facilitating, preparing, or perpetrating of acts or activities by, in conjunction with, under the name of, on behalf of, or in support of those designated and other individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with the Taliban in constituting a threat to the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan”.
Abdul Aziz Abbasin is a key commander in the Haqqani Network (TE.H.12.12), a Taliban-affiliated group of militants that operates from Eastern Afghanistan and North Waziristan Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. As of early 2010, Abbasin received orders from Sirajuddin Haqqani (TI.H.144.07) and was appointed by him to serve as the Taliban shadow governor of Orgun District, Paktika Province, Afghanistan. Abbasin commands a group of Taliban fighters and has assisted in running a training camp for foreign fighters based in Paktika Province. Abbasin has also been involved in ambushing vehicles supplying Afghan government forces and the transport of weapons to Afghanistan.
