Sheikh Ahmed Salim Swedan was listed on 17 October 2001 pursuant to paragraph 8 (c) of resolution 1333 (2000) as being associated with Al-Qaida, Usama bin Laden or the Taliban for “participating in the financing, planning, facilitating, preparing or perpetrating of acts or activities by, in conjunction with, under the name of, on behalf or in support of”, "supplying, selling or transferring arms and related material to" or "otherwise supporting acts or activities of" Al-Qaida (QE.A.4.01).

Additional information:

Sheikh Ahmed Salim Swedan was recruited to join Al-Qaida (QE.A.4.01) in 1996 by Mohammed Saddiq Odeh in Mombasa, Kenya. In late 1996, Swedan went with Fahid Mohammed Ally Msalam (QI.M.34.01) to Afghanistan for Al-Qaida training. Swedan was associated with Fazul Abdullah Mohammed (QI.M.33.01).

Swedan participated in the preparation and execution of the 7 August 1998 terrorist bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya, which caused the deaths of at least 213 persons and injured over 5,000 others.

Swedan was indicted on 16 December 1998 in the Southern District of New York, the United States of America, for his involvement in the 7 August 1998 bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam and Nairobi by Al-Qaida. In particular:

Swedan was reportedly killed in Pakistan in January 2009.
