Jean-Marie Vianney Hitimana is a repentant participant of the 1994 genocide. He was recently released from Gitarama prison after serving thirteen years for destroying the store of Annociata’s father. Jean-Marie has paid Annociata back for the damage he did to her father’s store. They are neighbors.

Jean-Marie Vianney Hitimana Jean-Marie photographs his shadow. Children walk over a bridge. Jean-Marie photographed several bridges because it reminded him of how innocent people were thrown into the Nyabarongo River during the genocide. Annociata’s father was killed this way.
