Security Council Committee Concerning South Sudan Commences Work

On 1 April 2015, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2206 (2015) concerning South Sudan held its first meeting.

The Committee approved the transmission of a note verbale to all Member States, drawing their attention to paragraph 17 of resolution 2206 (2015), by which the Security Council called upon all Member States to report to the Committee within 90 days from the adoption of the resolution — that is, by 3 June 2015 — on the steps they have taken to implement effectively the travel ban and asset freeze, imposed by, respectively, paragraphs 9 and 12 of the resolution.
