New Permanent Representative of Malawi Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Malawi to the United Nations, Charles Peter Msosa, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.


Until his latest appointment, Mr. Msosa was Principal Secretary responsible for Administration in the Office of the President and Cabinet since November 2008.  From June 2006 to November 2008, he held the same rank in the Ministry of Energy and Mines.


Mr. Msosa was also Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, from August 2004 to June 2006, having held the same position between January 2000 and August 2004, in the Office of the Vice-President.  He joined the civil service in 1983 as a management analyst/consultant involved in restructuring ministries and departments, among other duties.


He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in public administration, respectively from Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States and Chancellor College of the University of Malawi.


Born on 3 June 1959, he is married and has three children.
