The Secretary-General has selected Yukio Takasu of Japan as Under-Secretary-General for Management, Department of Management.  Mr. Takasu, who since 2011 is the Special Advisor to the Secretary-General on Human Security, brings to the position a wide range of experience working with the United Nations as Controller at the Assistant Secretary-General level and Member of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ), including expertise in terms of accountability, transparency, efficient use of resources and coherence — all of which are critical to the United Nations reform.  Mr. Takasu has also nearly 40 years of multilateral diplomacy, notably as Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations in New York; Ambassador, Embassy of Japan, Washington; Ambassador, Scientific Cooperation, Human Security and United Nations Reform, Tokyo; and Permanent Representative of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
