Security Council Press statement on United Nations regional centre

for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia

The following Security Council press statement was read out today by Council President Neven Jurica ( Croatia):

The Security Council welcomes the briefing by Miroslav Jenca, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Central Asia, on the work of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

The Security Council welcomes the engagement by the Centre with the Governments of the region and regional organizations, in accordance with its mandate, on issues relevant to preventive diplomacy.

The Security Council supports the efforts of the Centre to facilitate dialogue and assist the Governments of Central Asia on regional issues of common concern.
