DECOLONIZATION COMMITTEE URGES ARGENTINA, UNITED KINGDOM TO SEEK NEGOTIATED SOLUTIONS TO FALKLANDS (MALVINAS) SOVEREIGNTY DISPUTE CORRECTION

Press Release GA/COL/2965 of 16 June, reporting a statement by Paraguay on behalf of the Common Market of the Southern Cone, incorrectly lists the members of that body. The first paragraph on page 8 should read as follows:

RAMON A. DIAZ-PEREIRA (Paraguay) spoke on behalf of the Common Market of the Southern Cone (MERCOSUR) (Argentina, Brazil Paraguay and Uruguay) and associated States (Bolivia and Chile). He said that at a conference in Argentina in June 1996, those countries had reaffirmed the sovereign right of Argentina over the Malvinas/Falkland Islands. They had also expressed the hope that the dispute over the islands would be resolved in conformity with relevant United Nations resolutions.
