History
Thai Population Information Centre (TPIC) as national focal point for population and family health information, was established since 1978. Due to the National Information system policy, Thai Population Information Centre aims to integrate the demograp
hic factors as an effective strategy in development planning such as population growth rate, fertitlity, mortality and the like, the effect of the population structure on children, youth and the elderly, population distribution, migration and the growth o
f large cities, the role and status of women, and environment to its collection. It currently collects, organizes, analyses and disseminates with update scientific and technical information on population, maternal and child health, family planning, both
in its original formats and in repackaged formats to policy makers, administrators, decision makers, researchers, programme personnel, including staff of population and communication units, to facilitate the formulation of population policies and implemen
tation of programme. To meet the information requirement for the decade of the 1990s, TPIC has started a multidisciplinary approach to the information needed.
