Excerpt from message of the Minister of National Unity & Social Development
"... the
impressive progress achieved by our country has indirectly impacted on family
stability due to changes in lifestyles and family values from the influences
of materialism, westernisation and modern technology. Even though such is the
prevailing situation, the external environment is not to be blamed. If we are
conscious and sensitive to forces which threaten our families, many social problems
would have been overcome. The busy daily schedule of parents today should not
be a barrier to close family communication. On the other hand, parents who devote
"quality time" to their children will ensure that noble values are
inculcated and imparted to mould harmonious families."
