Korea Institute for Family Planning

Established KIFP in July 1, 1971 by a Presidential Decree (Law 2270)



Korea Health Development Institute

Established KHDI in April 19, 1976 (Law 2857)



Korea Institute for Population and Health

Formed through a merger of KIFP and KHDI (Law 3417) and inaugurated KIPH in July 1, 1981

The research and investigation functions of the Social Security Review Committee
under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs were transferred to KIPH in 1986



Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs

Enforced through a research function of the social security and KIPH was renamed as
KIHASA in December 30, 1989. (Law 4181)

Designated and Operated the administration center for the National Welfare Planning Board
and the Welfare Policy Committee as well as Population Policy Development Committee in 1995

Supporting the Reforming Committee for the Health and Welfare System
under the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 1996

Managing the Development Association of Oriental and Western Medicine and Pharmacy in 1996

Designating and Operating the administration center for the Medicine Reforming Committee in 1996

Establishing and Operating the International Cooperation Center
under the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 1997
