During his stint with the CST, he initiated the collation of various
population and reproductive health indicators for all 15 UNFPA programme countries of the
South Pacific. He was able to develop and install a framework for a common database of
regional population, social-economic and reproductive health indicators for UNFPA and
other UN agencies in the region.
These common indicators, when further refined, are very relevant to the
inter-agency collaboration in preparing Common Country Assessments and developing UN
Development Assistance Frameworks for the Pacific island countries to coordinate more
effectively the work of the various development agencies under the UN reform process.
Nasiru made many friends in the Marshall Islands and in Fiji. He was a great asset to
the UNFPA Country Support Team. His many new found friends at the CST greatly appreciated
his dedication and professionalism. We wish him success in his every endeavor!
