A joint mission was undertaken by Mr. Allan Kondo, Dr. Salesi Katoanga, and Mr. Laurie Lewis to Kiribati on 16-28 March. The objective of the mission was to carry out sectoral reviews of the three programme areas of reproductive health and family planning, population and development strategies, and advocacy. The Republic of Kiribati is one of seven selected Pacific island countries where in-depth field reviews are being carried out by CST advisers and national consultants.
The advisers met with a large number of national counterparts during the exercise. Preliminary findings and conclusions were presented in an exit - consultative meeting' with a group of senior Government and non-Governmental officials before the departure of the mission.
The advisers also discussed with the National Population Committee, the agenda for the National Seminar for Parliamentarians and Senior Officials on "Population and Development" to be held on 20-22 May. Mr. Laurie Lewis had an opportunity to discuss with the national working group a preliminary draft report of Kiribati Sustainable Human Development Situation Analysis being prepared by the CST with the collaboration of the group and a national consultant.
