President of the UN General Assembly to visit California 2-4 February

UNITED NATIONS, New York, 1 February 2017  – The President of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Peter Thomson, will be in San Francisco, 2 – 4 February with the purpose of advancing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The President will meet with business leaders, innovators and social media experts of Silicon Valley to seek their engagement and support in communicating the SDGs.

President Thomson will also meet with West Coast Ocean foundations and academia to prepare for The Ocean Conference on SDG14 to be held at the UN, 5-9 June. He will attend a meeting convened by the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation at The Packard Foundation to interact on SDG14.

The President will be accompanied by the Office of the President of the General Assembly’s Chef de Cabinet, Ambassador Tomas Anker Christensen. Senior Adviser Itai Madamombe, Special Assistant Signe Schelde Poulsen and Communications Director and Spokesperson Dan Thomas.

Travel and accommodation expenses for the President and accompanying officers will be covered by the Office of the President of the General Assembly’s Trust Fund.
