Special Assistant to the Chef de Cabinet

Lliam FindlayLliam Findlay is Special Assistant to the Chef de Cabinet of the Office of the President of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He assists the Chef de Cabinet to ensure implementation of the President’s priorities for the 70th Session and to manage overall policy, logistical and administrative coordination of the Office.

Prior to this, Lliam assisted the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Ebola, Dr. David Nabarro with diplomatic and donor engagement. While this role was based in New York, Lliam also worked periodically in all of the Ebola-affected countries of West Africa, including for the Secretary-General during his solidarity visit to the region (December 2014) and within the United Nations Mission on Ebola Emergency Response in its first months of operation (September-November 2014).

Before joining the global response to the Ebola crisis, Lliam was an adviser in the Office of the 68th President of the General Assembly (May-September 2014) where he took a lead role in ensuring the success of the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples.

Lliam also has experience with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2011-2014) where he managed trade, economic and development cooperation issues related to both the G20 and APEC forums. Before joining that Department, Lliam was an international economic policy analyst at the Australian Treasury (2006-2011).
