Mauricio Favero

Special Adviser for Financing for Development

Mauricio FaveroMaurício Fávero is a Senior Adviser in the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Team in the Office of the President of the 70th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. He is responsible for implementation and follow-up on finance, trade and debt-related issues agreed in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These issues include the global framework for financing development beyond 2015 the mobilization of domestic and international public resources domestic and international private finance international development cooperation in all its modalities international trade debt sustainability systemic issues and the strengthening of the role of the United Nations in global economic governance.

Maurício’s duties include liaising with related International Organizations, the UN Secretariat and UN Funds and Programmes, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank Group (WBG), the World Trade Organization (WTO), UNCTAD, DESA, the FfD Office, UNDP and UNIDO. He will also liaise with regional commissions and representatives of civil society organizations and the business community.

Maurício joined the Brazilian Foreign Service in 1996 and has since worked and studied in Buenos Aires, Washington DC, London and Tripoli. From 2008 to 2010, he headed the Division of Political, Social, Legal and Institutional Affairs for MERCOSUR, and from 2010 to 2012, the Division of Economic Affairs for MERCOSUR.

In 2012, he joined the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the UN in New York as a delegate and coordinator of the Second Committee team.

Maurício Fávero is a diplomat (Counselor) and speaks Spanish, English, French and Portuguese.
