The President of the UN General Assembly, H.E. Mogens Lykketoft, has been informed by the Secretary-General of his intention to appoint Filippo Grandi of Italy as the new United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The President will table the selection on the agenda of the General Assembly next week.
