The UN Welcomes PRSA Members

On December 7, the UN Office for Partnerships, in collaboration with the International Section of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), hosted the event “Win-Win Partnerships with UN Agencies - Achieving Your Organization’s Social Responsibility Goals” at the United Nations Headquarters to brief on partnership opportunities with the United Nations.

A panel of representatives from major UN entities including UNICEF, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and UNAIDS presented their objectives and guidelines on cooperation with the private sector, providing concrete examples of successful partnerships. During the Luncheon, Mr. Robert Orr, Assistant Secretary-General for Policy and Planning, United Nations, gave a key note speech in which he emphasized that the future of the United Nations lies in partnerships. Throughout the event, it was underscored that the power of collaboration with civil society and the private sector is of key importance to meet today’s global challenges, such as global public health and climate change. Mr. David Schneider, Senior Advisor to the Chairman, The Coca-Cola Company, elaborated on the partnership between Coca-Cola and the United Nations, picturing concrete examples of how the private sector can engage with the United Nations.
