               Objective
 

                   The Optional Protocol supplements the provisions of the Convention on theRights of the Child by providing detailed requirements for the criminalizationof violations of the rights of children in the context of the sale of children,child prostitution and child pornography.
 

               Key Provisions
 

                   The Optional Protocol provides definitions for the offences of "sale ofchildren", "child prostitution" and "child pornography". It sets standardsfor the treatment of violations under domestic law, including with regardto offenders, protection of victims and prevention efforts. It also providesa framework for increased international cooperation in these areas, inparticular for the prosecution of offenders.
