Ghana National Preparations

In preparation for the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the Government of Botswana is in the process of finalizing a National Preparatory Committee, which is expected to be established in February 2001.

The Committee is also expected to include representatives of major groups, including National Association of Local Government, Media, Trade Union Congress, National Union of Environmental Non Governmental Organizations, Private Enterprise Foundation.

In addition, Ghana is undertaking its national review and assessment of the progress made in the implementation of Agenda 21, which is expected to be completed by May 2001. The Government of Ghana is also planning to launch the "four initiatives" proposed by the Summit Secretariat to ensure greater participation of all partners.
