Structure
CSTD - The Commission on Science and Technology for Development,
is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and was established in 1992.
CSTD administrative services are handled by StDev,The Science and Technology Development Network, within UNCTAD, The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, at Geneva . Tasks
The Commission on Science and Technology for Development analyses relevant issues and provides appropriate recommendations and policy options to the
General Assembly.
The Commission on Science and Technology for Development is a United Nations forum for :
- Examening science and technology questions and their implications for development;
- Advancing understanding on science and technology policies - particularly with respect to developing countries and
- Formulating UN system recommendations and guidelines on science and technology.
