conducts policy development and coordination in support of the Secretary-General:
Ensuring that all humanitarian issues are addressed; including those that fall into gaps between the mandates of agencies, as in protection and assistance of internally displaced persons;
Advocacy on humanitarian issues with political
organs, notably with the Security Council;
Coordination of humanitarian emergency response;
Establishing appropriate response mechanisms on the ground through Inter-Agency Standing Committee consultations (IASC). |
