"INTERNAL INQUIRY INTO THE DEATH OF DR. MILAN KOVACEVIC"

As reported on 3 August 1998, Judge Mohamed Shahabuddeen, the ICTY Vice-President, acting as President in the absence of Judge Gabrielle Kirk McDonald, has appointed Judge Almiro Rodrigues to conduct the internal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Dr. Milan KOVACEVIC.

Judge Rodrigues immediately started his investigation and will make his findings public as soon as the report has been finalized.

In addition a post-mortem has been requested by the Registrar with the authorization of the family and the counsel. The autopsy has been carried out by the Forensic Laboratory of the Ministry of Justice at Rijswijk. As soon as the official autopsy report is released it will be made public.

The body of Dr. Milan KOVACEVIC has been transported today to his hometown of Prijedor.
