Today, Saturday 11 March 2006, Slobodan Milosevic was found lifeless on his bed in his cell at the United Nations Detention Unit in Scheveningen.

The guard immediately alerted the Detention Unit Officer in command and the Medical Officer. The latter confirmed that Slobodan Milosevic was dead.

The Dutch Police and a Dutch coroner were called in and started an enquiry. A full autopsy and a toxicological examination have been ordered. Pursuant to his authority under the Tribunal’s Statute and Rules of Detention, the Tribunal President, Judge Fausto Pocar, has ordered a full inquiry.

Slobodan Milosevic’s family has been informed.

SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC TROUVE MORT DANS SA CELLULE AU CENTRE DE DETENTION

Aujourd’hui, samedi 11 mars 2006, Slobodan Milosevic a été découvert sans vie dans son lit dans sa cellule au Centre de Détention à Scheveningen.

Le gardien a immédiatement alerté l’Officier en charge ainsi que le Médecin-en-Chef. Ce dernier a confirmé que Slobodan Milosevic était décédé.

Les autorités de police et médico-légales néerlandaises ont été appelées et ont ouvert une enquête. Une autopsie et un examen toxicologique ont été ordonnés. Conformément à son pouvoir au terme du Statut du Tribunal et des règles de détention, le Président du Tribunal, le Juge Fausto Pocar, a ordonné une enquête exhaustive.

La famille de Slobodan Milosevic a été informée.
