Studied English in Great Britain, read law in Bern and Geneva

Sept. 2003 Re-appointed to the position of Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia on 4 September 2003
11 August 1999 Appointed by the UN Security Council to the position of Prosecutor, United Nations International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, effective 15 September 1999
1994 Appointed Attorney General of Switzerland
1981 Appointed investigating magistrate and later became public prosecutor, working with the office of the Lugano district attorney. Responsible for investigating financial and white-collar crime, international drug trafficking and organized crime, gained thorough knowledge of international legal assistance in criminal matters
1975 Began practicing law, setting up her own law and notary’s office in Lugano, Switzerland
1972 Received on-the-job training at a law office in Lugano, Switzerland
