Jim Landale, Spokesman for Registry and Chambers,
made the following statement:
I would like to draw your attention to a decision
rendered by the Appeals Chamber yesterday on the Prosecution’s
interlocutory appeal of the Trial Chamber’s 30 September
2005 decision to grant provisional release to Nebojsa Pavkovic.
In its decision, the Appeals Chamber granted the
Prosecution appeal and quashed the Trial Chamber’s decision,
remitting the matter to the Trial Chamber for further consideration.
The Appeal Chamber’s detailed reasoning is contained in the
decision, copies of which will be available to you after this briefing.
Today, the Tribunal is hosting a group of 75 students of journalism
from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, Croatia, the
former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Slovenia, some of whom
are with us here. The visit has been organised by the Forum for
European Journalism Students in conjunction with ICTY Outreach.
The group is following court proceedings and will be given presentations
on the work of the Tribunal.
The judgement in the case against Sefer Halilovic
will be rendered on Wednesday 16 November at 10 a.m. in Courtroom
III.
Pre-trial Judge Agius has also ordered that during
the course of the status conference, Popovic, Beara, Nikolic, Borovcanin,
Pandurevic and Trbic shall enter pleas of guilty or not guilty
to the new charges sought to be included by the Prosecution in
the Consolidated Amended Indictment.
The Milosevic trial next week will be on Wednesday
and Thursday morning and on Friday afternoon.
Finally, in the next week or so, there will be
status conferences in The Prosecutor v. Stanislav Galic this
afternoon at 2.15 p.m. in Courtroom II; in The Prosecutor v.
Vojislav Seselj tomorrow at 8 a.m. in Courtroom III; in The
Prosecutor v. Rasim Delic tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Courtroom
I; and in The Prosecutor v. Prlic et al on 8 November at
12.30 p.m. in Courtroom I.
