Jim Landale, Spokesman for Registry
and Chambers, made the following statement:
You should all be aware following our
press advisory that the opening of the
trial of Mile Mrksic, Miroslav Radic
and Veselin Sljivancanin has been rescheduled.
After granting a defence motion for postponement,
Judge Parker has ordered that a pre-trial
conference will be held on Monday, 10
October; the Prosecution, and, if desired,
the Defence, shall make their opening
statements on Monday, 10 October and
Tuesday, 11 October; and the Prosecution
shall commence the presentation of its
evidence on Tuesday 25 October.
There will be a further initial appearance
for Vojislav Seselj on Monday 3 October
at 3 p.m. in Courtroom I. This is to
enable him to enter a plea to an amended
indictment, which was filed in July of
this year.
In addition to the ongoing trials, in
the next week status conferences will
be held in The Prosecutor v. Stanisic
and Simatovic tomorrow at 3 p.m.
in Courtroom I.
Florence Hartmann, Spokesperson for
the Office of the Prosecutor, made no
statement.
Asked about the position of the
OTP regarding Croatia’s cooperation
with the ICTY in relation to the EU talks,
Hartmann replied that the Prosecutor
would visit the region tomorrow and would
then have a full picture about cooperation
after her visit. The main purpose of
her visit was to solve the issue of the
last seven fugitives still at large.
