JEAN KAMBANDA

INTRODUCTION:

Jean kambanda was born in 1955 in Gishamvu commune, Butare prefecture. The accused was a Prime Minister of the Government of The Republic of Rwanda from 8.4.1994 until he left the country on or about 17.7.1994.The accused was arrested in Kenya on 18.7.1997 and he was transfered to Arusha on the same day.

INDICTMENT:

The indictment was filed by the Prosecutor on 15.10.1997 and tha same was confirmed by Judge Ostrovsky on 16.10.1997. The initial appearance date to be fixed.

INITIAL APPEARANCE:

The initial appearance was held on 1.5.1998, the accused pleaded guilty to all the charges against him.

The case was fixed for sentencing on 31.8.1998.
