 CLOSING CEREMONIES OF THE CONFERENCE

At the request of the Italian authorities, the following information is included in the Journal:

A ceremony, hosted by the Mayor of Rome, to celebrate the conclusion of the Conference will take place at sala Oriazi e Curiazi in Palazzo dei Conservatori at the Campidoglio at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 18 July 1998.  All delegations are invited to attend.

At the ceremony, the signed Final Act will be handed over to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy.  The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court will also be transmitted.  The President of the Conference will make a statement.  Those States that are in a position to sign the Statute and did not do so on 17 July are invited to sign on this occasion, if they so wish.  The ceremony will be followed by a Vin d'honneur hosted by the Mayor of Rome in the garden outside Campidoglio to which all participants are invited.

Owing to the limited number of seats available, seating will be controlled by special access cards, permitting entry to one person per delegation into the hall.  Additional seating will be available in the courtyard, where the proceedings may be viewed on a screen.  Also here, the seating will be controlled by special access cards.  An invitation from the Mayor of Rome and an access card issued by United Nations Protocol must be presented at the entrance to the hall or the courtyard.

Delegations of States are requested to pick up their access cards at the Indonesia Pavillion on 16 July 1998 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 5 p.m. Delegations of specialized agencies, intergovernmental organizations, United Nations programmes and other bodies and organizations may pick up their access cards on 17 July 1998 between 2 and 5 p.m.  Further information may be obtained at 570-50221/50306.
