    Inter-agency programme to nurture peace, security and decent work through local development in conflict areas of the Philippines (Bondoc Peninsula)

    The programme utilized the human security approach to integrate several components including improvements in agriculture and fisheries; skills and entrepreneurship; institutional coordination and coherence; disaster risk management; and improved health care, especially for women and children. Together these interventions strengthened collaborative actions that were comprehensive, inclusive and sustainable, resulting in greater trust and confidence between local authorities and vulnerable poor communities in the Bondoc Peninsula.
     

     

     

  • Economic and Social Empowerment of Returned Victims of Trafficking in Thailand and the Philippines

    The programme contributed to the reduction of human trafficking for sexual and labour exploitation in Thailand and the Philippines by assisting, empowering and protecting returned victims through immediate and long-term socio-economic responses, such as, home visits, legal and psychosocial counseling, provision of health care and vocational training, as well as awareness raising on safe migration and how best to assist returnees in their reintegration.

    Support for victims/witnesses of trafficking in human beings in the Philippines

    To reduce the incidences of human trafficking, the programme addressed the root causes and ensured that gaps in the return and reintegration of victims and those at risk were addressed through a comprehensive package, combining efforts to restore psychosocial rehabilitation of victims with vocational training and access to justice for better reintegration of those most vulnerable.

    Preventive action and early interventions against child abuse and exploitation in urban poor communities

    Covering the cities of Manila, Pasay and Quezon, the objective of the programme was to implement measures protecting children in impoverished urban communities from the risks of drug addiction, sexual exploitation, child labor, and homelessness.

    To respond to the most basic reproductive health needs of vulnerable persons in Capiz, the programme implemented a community-based model that aimed to raise awareness and improve access to reproductive health care and sexual practices through counselling, family planning and gender-sensitive education.
