The Chernobyl nuclear disaster continues to impact Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. Health care systems struggle to provide medical services to treat various diseases linked to exposure to radiation. Environmental recovery has required significant investment, and recovery has been slow. The rate of economic and social development in the Chernobyl region has fallen behind that of other areas in these three countries. Attached we provide a short analysis of the UN involvement in Chernobylís recovery in three countries for the period 1986 until today. Information from our database, which was created together with our partners, informs our analysis.

Since 1986, United Nations system organizations and major non-governmental organizations and foundations have launched more than 230 different projects in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia.
