30 January 2012, the GSP released its report, ‘Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing’. The report contains 56 recommendations aimed at putting sustainable development into practice.

The Global Sustainability Panel is organizing several public events on the margins of the Rio +20 Conference, namely:

Open Dialogue on The Future We Choose

Co-organised with the Stockholm Resilience Centre, Fundaçao Brasileira para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável and The Elders

Time: 18 June 2012, 10:00 - 18:00; Venue: P3-3, RioCentro

Based on key messages developed at the previous Nobel Laureates Symposia and the GSP report, the organising partners take the opportunity to present a declaration consisting of a science-based message on global sustainability to decision-makers, civil society and the media. This declaration highlights the importance of a science-based approach to sustainable development and the need for policy and decision-makers to acknowledge science if the world chooses a more sustainable path.

The morning session gives the opportunity for Nobel Laureates, members of the GSP and The Elders to present the Declaration, as well as the outcomes of the Nobel Symposia Process and the report of the GSP to policy and decision-makers, civil society and the media.

The afternoon session brings together Nobel Laureates, members of the GSP and The Elders with representatives of youth organisations in an inter-generational dialogue focusing on realising their vision and putting sustainable development into practice.
