Description:

The recommendations of the High-level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP) will be examined in depth during a special event at UNDP's Global Human Development Forum in Istanbul, Turkey. The discussion will be moderated by Eva Jespersen, Deputy-Director of UNDP's Human Development Report Office, and Janos Pasztor, Executive Secretary of the GSP.

Several GSP panelists will join the discussions, including: Tarja Halonen, Co-Chair of the Panel and former President of Finland, Ali Babacan, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Jim Balsillie, Founder and Retired Co-CEO Research In Motion, and Gunilla Carlsson, Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden. They will be joined by Rebeca Grynspan, Associate Administrator of UNDP and Khalid Malik, Director of UNDP's Human Development Report Office.

The event provides an opportunity to discuss how the findings of two influential reports - the Human Development Report 2011 "Sustainability and Equity: A Better Future for All" and the GSP's Report "Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future worth choosing" - can be made operational and put into practice for the upcoming Rio+20 conference and beyond.
