Terrorist attack in Afghanistan
The President made the following statement in the General Assembly today:
“I wish to convey, on behalf of the General Assembly, our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the United Nations staff members who were killed in the recent shocking and shameless raid by terrorists in Afghanistan.
I join the United Nations Secretary-General in condemning all threats and acts of violence against humanitarian and United Nations personnel and reaffirm the need to hold accountable those responsible for such acts. All Member States are encouraged to comply fully with their obligations under international humanitarian law in protecting humanitarian and United Nations personnel.”
