STATEMENT ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE SPOKESPERSON
OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
On meeting the Foreign Minister of Argentina
United Nations General Assembly President Srgjan Kerim met today with H.E. Jorge Enrique Taiana, the Minister of External Relations of Argentina. The meeting focused on current reform initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of the United Nations in world affaires. They also discussed the most recent developments concerning Security Council reform including the upcoming meeting of the open-ended working group set for 17 June.
Minister Taiana and the General Assembly President also reviewed some of the current global challenges the United Nations was actively working on, including the global food crisis. They briefly discussed regional issues as well.
