Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women

Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan

Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan teaches Public Administration at the National Institute of Development Administration in Bangkok, Thailand. She has held many important positions including the Presidency of the National Institute of Development Administration.

Currently she chairs the Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society, which she founded. It’s tasked with studies research, coordination and consulting activities to better advance the role of civil society as a development partner for a balanced, equitable and sustainable development.

Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan is also a member of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand, where she chairs the sub-committee on Women and the standing committee on Ethics, Good Governance and Anti-Corruption.

Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan has tirelessly combined academic work with policy advocacy on gender equality, social justice, transparency and good governance. She sits on numerous national and public sector boards as well as on non-profit boards.

Dr. Juree Vichit-Vadakan received her B.A., M.A. and PhD degrees from the University of California Berkeley. She also received UC Berkeley’s Haas InternationalAward in 2006, in addition to the numerous awards that she has received over the years.
