Professor Diane Elson is a member of the Department of Sociology and the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex, UK; and Visiting Professor in Feminist Development Economics at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Her current research interests include gender and fiscal policy; gender and trade, and women’s economic and social rights. She was Special Advisor to UNIFEM, the United Nations Development Fund for Women (1998-2000); and a member of the UN Millennium Taskforce on Education and Gender Equality(2002-5). She served as Vice President of the International Association for Feminist Economics, 2003-6.
