Beatriz Paredes Rangel currently serves as President of Mexico’s political party Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI).
Throughout her career, she has occupied various political posts. She was the first female Governor of the State of Tlaxcala (1987-1992) and the second woman in Mexico to occupy the post of Governor. She was Senator of the Republic (1997-2000) and on various occasions presided over the Chamber of Deputies. She was Local Deputy in 1974 and leader of the Congress of Tlaxcala.
In the Federal Public Administration, she has acted as Under Secretary of Governance, President of the National Commission of Integral Development and Social Justice for Indigenous Peoples, and Under Secretary of Agrarian Organization in the Federal Ministry of Agrarian Reform. In the Foreign Ministry, she served as Mexico’s Ambassador to Cuba.
In December of 2004, Beatriz Paredes was nominated President of the Fundación Colocio, A.C. She is also a member of the Advisory Councils of UNICEF and the Latin American Parliament.
